Balenciaga to Reintroduce its Haute Couture Collections in 2020

Balenciaga returns to Haute Couture for the first time since 1968.

"Haute Coutur is the very foundation of this house, so it is my creative and visionary duty to bring couture back to Balenciaga. For me, Couture is an unexplored mode of creative freedom and a platform for innovation. It not only offers another spectrum of possibilities in dressmaking, it also brings the modern vision of Balenciaga back to its sources of origin. Couture is above trends. It's an expression of beauty on the highest aesthetic and qualitative levels.", declared Demna Gvasalia.

In the year of 1919, Cristóbal Balenciaga created the brand Haute Coutur. Balenciaga closed his house in 1968 at the age of 74 after working in Paris for 30 years. He decided to retire and closed his fashion houses in Paris, Barcelona, and Madrid, one after the other. Balenciaga died on 23 March 1972 in Spain.

52 years later, headed by Demna Gvasalia, Haute Coutur will be opened. A new collection show will be held in July of 2020.
