Quality Control Conducted at 86 Wine Companies During the Second Quarter of the Year

To enhance the competitiveness of alcoholic beverages produced in Georgia, the relevant services of the National Wine Agency continue to carry out regular quality control of Georgian wine and other alcoholic beverages.

According to the National Wine Agency, during the second quarter of this year, 61 inspection controls were conducted at 24 companies to verify whether batches of alcoholic beverages submitted for certification complied with the corresponding samples. Of the 177 samples tested, violations were identified in 8 samples from 3 companies.

In addition, four state supervision inspections were carried out at one company to assess compliance of wine production processes with the requirements established under Georgian legislation. No violations were detected in any of the 4 samples examined.

As part of domestic market surveillance, 23 business establishments were inspected. Of the 34 samples collected from 16 companies, violations were identified in 14 samples from 10 companies.

Within the Economic Zone of Clearance, inspections were conducted by the international auditing companies Bureau Veritas and SGS at 45 companies. Of the 127 samples collected, violations were found in 3 samples from 3 companies.

To assess the organoleptic characteristics of alcoholic beverages, 68 tasting sessions were conducted. A total of 3,301 samples were submitted for sensory evaluation, of which 121 samples failed the assessment, while 3,180 samples received a positive evaluation.

It is noteworthy that, compared to the same period last year, the number of violations has decreased, indicating the effectiveness of Georgia's wine quality control system.
