Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency of Georgia, attended the event, underscoring the country’s strategic commitment to expanding its presence in the Chinese and broader Asian markets.

Now in its 19th year, the SIWC has been held annually since 2006 and aims to recognize the world’s highest-quality wines while strengthening trade and cultural ties in the Chinese market. It is considered one of the most influential platforms for global wine producers, offering exposure to industry professionals, media, and consumers.

Organized by the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone, the competition brings together approximately 80 wine professionals as judges. Wines are evaluated through a rigorous blind tasting process, ensuring fairness, transparency, and objectivity. Awards are presented in the following categories: Platinum, Gold, Silver, Trophy, and Popular.

The strong performance of Georgian wines at this year’s SIWC is yet another testament to the country’s rich winemaking tradition and growing global reputation.
