Georgian Wine Showcased in Sapporo, Japan

A presentation of Georgian wine was held in Sapporo, Japan.

With the financial support of the National Wine Agency of Georgia and organized by its contracted marketing company Red Bridge, a Georgian wine tasting seminar took place in the capital of Hokkaido.

The tasting was led by Kenichi Ohashi, head of Red Bridge, who delivered a presentation on Georgian wine. The presentation covered the centuries-old history of Georgian winemaking, its traditions, key grape varieties, and the development of the modern Georgian wine industry.

Georgian wine was also presented at the event by Teimuraz Lezhava, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Japan.

Events of this format play an important role in strengthening international partnerships. They allow wine producers to receive direct feedback on the specific demands of target markets and better adapt to consumer preferences. Such activities contribute to export growth, as well as to the refinement of production standards and marketing strategies, ultimately enhancing the competitiveness of Georgian wine in the global market.

The first large-scale presentation of Georgian wine in Japan was held in 2014. In subsequent years, with the support of the National Wine Agency, Georgian companies have actively participated in international exhibitions such as Foodex Japan, RAW Wine Tokyo, and Wine and Gourmet Japan, as well as in local wine competitions.

In 2019, a large-scale exhibition titled Georgia – The Cradle of Wine was held in Tokyo. Over the course of two months, it hosted thousands of visitors and significantly increased awareness of Georgian wine in the Japanese market.
