Georgian Wine Presented at Major Promotional Event in Seoul
With the aim of diversifying Georgian wine export markets, a large-scale presentation of Georgian wine was held in Seoul, the capital of the Republic of Korea, with the support of the National Wine Agency and the organization of its contractor, the Korean marketing company Wine21.com.
The event included a professional master class, tastings, and a Georgian wine festival attended by 400 invited guests, including wine experts, sommeliers, buyers, media representatives, and influencers.
The master class was opened by Mickey Choi, CEO of Wine21.com, and Mikheil Tigishvili, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Korea. Mariam Metreveli, Marketing Coordinator of the National Wine Agency, gave a presentation on the history and modern industry of Georgian wine.
Approximately ten Georgian wine-producing companies participated with individual presentations and a diverse selection of wines. Later in the event, 13 Georgian wine companies conducted tastings for local importers, HoReCa representatives, and sommeliers.
The event concluded with the Georgian Wine Festival, which included a formal reception for members of the diplomatic corps, local wine experts, journalists, and influencers, alongside cultural activities highlighting the history and traditions of Georgian winemaking.
In the Asian region, the Republic of Korea is considered a strategic market for Georgian wine, alongside China and Japan. The National Wine Agency regularly organizes marketing events in these countries. This event marked the fourth of its kind to be held in Korea.
Wine21.com, the event’s organizing partner, is the largest online wine portal in Korea. Created by industry professionals, it provides comprehensive information about wines available on the Korean market and implements PR and marketing initiatives.
It is also noteworthy that, with the support of the National Wine Agency, Georgian wine producers actively participate in major international exhibitions in Korea, including the Seoul International Wine and Spirits Expo and the Daejeon International Wine Festival.
