“Georgia – A Small Country with Big Treasures”: Georgian Wine Presented in Shanghai

In the city of Shanghai, People’s Republic of China, 26 Georgian wine companies participated in ProWine Shanghai, one of the most prestigious exhibitions in the wine industry, with the support and organization of the National Wine Agency.

Within the framework of the exhibition, the National Wine Agency also organized a Georgian wine masterclass-tasting titled “Georgia – Small Country with Big Treasures.” The session was led by Master of Wine Fongyee Walker, and featured wines from nine Georgian producers.

“In terms of diversifying Georgian wine markets, the Chinese market is one of the most important. As part of the Georgian Wine Promotion Program, the National Wine Agency has been actively implementing various marketing campaigns in the People’s Republic of China in recent years. In general, we work closely with the ProWine exhibition cycle. ProWine Shanghai traditionally attracts more than 100,000 visitors in total — including distributors, importers, and wine professionals. Participation in such a large-scale and significant exhibition contributes to the growth of Georgian wine exports to China,” noted Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency, who attended the events.

ProWine’s international exhibitions are major annual events for wine producers seeking to establish new contacts. The main ProWein exhibition is held in Düsseldorf, while additional exhibitions take place throughout the year in Tokyo, Shanghai, Mumbai, Singapore, Hong Kong, and São Paulo.

With the support of the National Wine Agency, Georgian wine has been presented at ProWein exhibitions in Germany, Brazil, Japan, and China.
