Marex to bolster APAC footprint through BPI acquisition

Marex has entered an agreement to acquire Asian-focused clearing business, Bright Point International (BPI), as part of an effort to build out its footprint across the APAC region and Chinese markets.

The deal will expand Marex’s current offering and will add approximately $800 million in client balances to the firm, as well as more than 70 employees spanning Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Norway and the UK.

The acquisition is currently scheduled to close by either late 2026 or early 2027, subject to regulatory approval.

Thomas Texier, group head of clearing, said: ”This deal will drive additional revenues by adding clients and increasing client balances and is also expected to provide material synergies from the internalisation of some clearing activities.

“Importantly, it will also enhance our ability to service clients in Asia with a broader range of services from the Marex platform and provide existing Marex clients with an improved access to Chinese markets.”

Currently, Singapore-based BPI provides multi-assets services spanning FX, index futures and options and digital assets, and holds strong relationships with key APAC and China-linked clients.

“Joining Marex represents a significant opportunity to accelerate our growth, broaden the solutions we can offer our clients and provide our people with access to a truly global platform,” added Kenny Mah, group chief executive of BPI.

The deal follows the recent finalisation of Marex’s acquisition of fixed income market maker Valcourt in May 2026, which enhances the firm’s distribution offering by integrating the Swiss institutional community.

The acquisition of the Geneva-based firm saw 700 clients joining Marex’s platform, spanning banks, independent wealth managers and asset managers.
