Restoration Works Underway on Flood-Damaged Irrigation Infrastructure in Telavi

Restoration works are underway in Telavi following severe damage to irrigation infrastructure caused by heavy rainfall in the Kakheti region.

As a result of the intense rainfall, the Telavi Khevi River overflowed, damaging key irrigation facilities. The flooding affected the Matsantsri aqueduct (duker) as well as several sections of the Upper Alazani Main Canal passing through the Telavi area.

Intensive restoration works are currently in progress. The ongoing operations were inspected on site by Gigla Tamazashvili, Director General of Georgian Amelioration Ltd.

At this stage, the Upper Alazani Main Canal is being cleared of rocks, gravel, and sediment deposited by the floodwaters. Specialized machinery has been deployed to the site to ensure the irrigation infrastructure is restored as quickly as possible and that the irrigation system resumes uninterrupted operation.
