Georgian Agency Staff to Receive Training on Turkey’s Agricultural Insurance Model
Employees of the Rural Development Agency of Georgia will receive training from Turkish colleagues, who will share the successful experience of Turkey’s Agricultural Insurance Pool.
The training sessions were opened by Deputy Director of the Rural Development Agency Giorgi Avaliani and Salih Ozer, Coordinator of the Tbilisi office of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency.
Participants will learn about the practices of TARSIM, including the impact of climate change on agricultural production and the role of insurance systems in managing risks.
The training will be delivered by Seyfettin Gun, Head of the Agricultural Insurance Working Group at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey; Elif Bedir, Deputy Director of Crop Insurance at TARSIM; and Fatih Koca, Deputy Director of the Livestock Insurance Department at TARSIM.
The training is implemented with the support of TIKA and aims to deepen knowledge in agro-insurance and risk management in agriculture.
It is worth noting that the state agro-insurance program has been implemented by the Rural Development Agency since 2014 and serves as an important support mechanism for farmers in protecting their crops from climate-related risks.
