Georgian Actor Awarded for the Best Performance at the Locarno International Film Festival

Actor Gia Agumava was awarded for Best Actor at the Locarno International Film Festival.

Elene Naveriani's film - "Wet Sand" was presented in the competition section of the Film Festival Concorso Cineasti del presente. The film is a Georgian-Swiss co-production.

The Locarno International Film Festival has been held in Locarno, Switzerland since 1946 and is known as the Festival of Discoveries, as the successful careers of many filmmakers and actors began in Locarno.

Georgian films have been shown many times in Locarno. In recent years, the main award of the film festival - "Golden Leopard" has been won by two Georgian directors - Ana Urushadze for Best Debut ("Dangerous Mother") and Davit Pirtskhalava for the short film "Father".
