Silk Road Group Acquires Former Rooms Hotel Kokhta
Silk Road Group has acquired the former Rooms Kokhta Bakuriani hotel from Adjara Group, marking a strategic addition to its growing hospitality portfolio. The hotel will now be managed, developed, and rebranded by Silk Hospitality, further strengthening the Group’s presence in Georgia’s premier mountain destinations.
Silk Road Group has long been committed to the development of Georgia’s mountainous regions, particularly in supporting international ski events and improving infrastructure in collaboration with the Mountain Resorts Development Company and the Georgian Ski Federation. Bakuriani remains a key part of this vision, with continued investment aimed at enhancing its year-round appeal.
Giorgi Ramishvili, Founder of Silk Road Group, shared his perspective on the acquisition:
“My generation of ski enthusiasts has fond childhood memories of Kokhta, which makes this acquisition especially meaningful. Silk Road Group has supported the Georgian Ski Federation and the national team for decades. We played a vital role in bringing the 2023 World Championships to Bakuriani, helping this historic resort gain international recognition.
Today, Bakuriani hosts annual World Cup stages that are part of the International Ski Federation calendar. Kokhta, in particular, is ranked among the top ten tracks for freestyle and mogul disciplines. Our aim is to turn this resort into a four-season destination — a hub for winter sports as well as a lifestyle resort offering experiences for all ages and interests.”
The hotel’s development will be carried out by an international team of professionals assembled by Silk Road Group. Among them is Patrick Lang, a renowned French sports journalist, Vice-President of the Georgian Ski Federation, and Knight of the Order of Honor of Georgia. Lang played a key role in organizing the 2023 Freestyle, Snowboarding, and Freeski World Championships in Georgia.
Patrick Lang commented:“This region of the South Caucasus offers a truly unique mix of nature, fresh air, warm hospitality, and outstanding food and wine. The hotel and its surrounding infrastructure will be transformed to meet the expectations of global travelers seeking extraordinary destinations. I am thrilled that Kokhta has joined the Silk Road Group’s exceptional hotel portfolio. This marks the beginning of a new era for Bakuriani — one that will elevate the region into a world-class, four-season resort. I’m proud to contribute to a project that will further promote Georgia’s mountains.”
In the first phase of development, the hotel will add a new international-standard spa and enhanced amenities for winter sports enthusiasts, launching in time for the upcoming winter season. Future plans include the creation of a sports and adventure school for children, offering a mix of athletic and educational activities.
The Silk Road Group team sees this acquisition as the beginning of a new chapter — one that aligns with their vision of a modern, high-quality ski resort built to Silk standards.
