The Chairman of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC), David Narmania, participated in the Global Water Summit 2026, held in Madrid, Spain from May 18–20, at the invitation of leading international water company Aqualia.
The summit is a premier networking and strategic event in the water industry, bringing together government agencies, regulators, international organizations, representatives from the finance and technology sectors, and industry experts.
In addition, the GNERC Chairman met with Aqualia's CEO, Santiago Lafuente. The meeting focused on projects planned by Aqualia-owned Georgian Water and Power LLC aimed at improving water supply service quality in Tbilisi, Rustavi, and Mtskheta, as well as discussions on future plans.
"Since Aqualia — a major investor and company with extensive international experience — entered the management of Georgian Water and Power, substantial investments have been made in Tbilisi, Rustavi, and Mtskheta for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of outdated water supply infrastructure and various related works, in order to progressively improve water supply and sewerage systems. The company is introducing best international practices in water supply system management techniques and methodologies in Georgia. Aqualia's strategic approaches guarantee that water supply in Tbilisi, Rustavi, and Mtskheta will improve significantly," — stated David Narmania following the conclusion of his meeting with Aqualia's CEO.
