Up to 120 Private Wine Companies Already Registered for 2025 Vintage

As of August 26, nearly 120 private wine companies have registered with the Harvest Coordination Headquarters to participate in the 2025 grape harvest. These companies will be actively involved in the grape collection and processing process throughout the season.

“Based on our experience in recent years, we anticipate that up to 400 wine enterprises will ultimately take part in this year’s vintage. The coordination headquarters is fully prepared to ensure that the harvest proceeds successfully and that all winegrowers are able to fully and smoothly store their harvest,” stated Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency. “This year’s state decision is focused on recognizing the efforts of winegrowers and rewarding those who cultivate high-quality, well-conditioned grapes.”

To support the 2025 harvest, the Harvest Coordination Headquarters is operating out of the village of Gurjaani, located in Gurjaani Municipality. Winegrowers and producers can access information through the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture hotline at 1501 or by contacting the coordination center directly at 0322 193 283.

This year, the Government of Georgia has introduced significant changes to the subsidy scheme. Unlike previous years, subsidies will no longer be issued to private wine companies. Instead, if the private sector is unable to absorb the entire harvest, the state enterprise “Harvest Management Company” LLC will step in to procure the surplus grapes. Purchase prices have been set at 1.50 GEL for Saperavi grapes harvested in the Kakheti region, 1.20 GEL for other wine grape varieties authorized by the Law of Georgia “On Vine and Wine,” and 1.00 GEL for grapes deemed unfit, damaged, or diseased.

These measures aim to stabilize the market, uphold grape quality standards, and ensure winegrowers are supported throughout the harvest process.
