Quality of Exported Georgian Alcoholic Beverages Remains High, Says National Wine Agency

The National Wine Agency of Georgia continues to rigorously monitor the quality of exported alcoholic beverages to ensure that tens of millions of liters of Georgian wine and spirits meet international standards and remain competitive in global markets.

According to data from January to June 2025, the Agency conducted state control inspections to assess compliance with Georgian legislation across the wine production process. Out of 561 samples collected from 135 companies, 11 samples from 8 companies were found to be in violation.

Additionally, inspection control—which verifies that certified alcoholic beverage samples match the actual production lot—was carried out in 51 companies. From 757 samples, 5 violations were detected from 3 companies.

In the customs clearance economic zone, international contractors Bureau Veritas LLC and SGS LLC inspected 52 companies. Out of 208 samples, only 1 violation was found.

For organoleptic testing—which evaluates the sensory characteristics of exported alcoholic beverages such as color, clarity, aroma, taste, and harmony—a total of 132 tastings were conducted. Of the 6,208 samples tested, 202 were assessed negatively, while 6,006 were approved.

The Agency noted that the number of violations has decreased compared to the same period last year, indicating progress in quality control and compliance efforts.
