In Racha, a State-supported Enterprise is Producing 12 Varieties of Wine
The wine production facility, created in 2019 with co-financing from the Agency for Rural Development, was set up under the “Processing and Storage Enterprises Co-financing Programme” with a co-financing amount of 600,000 lari. The company also benefits from the state’s “Technical Support Programme” and the “Preferential Agro-Credit” project.
The enterprise, which produces 30,000 bottles of wine annually, markets its wines under the brand “Bimbili”.
“Harvesting in Kakheti is now in a very active phase, and next week we will begin the storing of the crop in another of the country’s most important wine-growing regions — Racha. This year we expect between 1,500 and 2,000 tonnes of yield in Racha. The harvest in Racha will be conducted in an organised and successful manner; we have mobilised our resources fully so that every vine-grower can safely store their crop without disruption. This year the region also saw the addition of a new designation of origin wine ‘Racha’, which underscores the uniqueness of this area and its contribution to the country’s wine sector — supporting this development is one of our top priorities,” said David Songhulashvili, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
It’s worth noting that since 2013, under the “Preferential Agro-Credit” project aimed at advancing wine production in the Racha-Lechkhumi and Lower Svaneti region, loans amounting to over 17 million lari have been issued, and the Agency for Rural Development has provided co-financing exceeding 5 million lari.
At the winery with the minister were the Regional Governor of Racha-Lechkhumi and Lower Svaneti, Papuna Margvelidze; the Region’s parliamentary delegate Gotcha Enukidze; the Acting Director of the Agency for Rural Development, Giorgi Avaliani; and local government representatives.
