Georgian Wine Culture Presented at China Agricultural University

A presentation on Georgian wine culture was held at China Agricultural University in the People's Republic of China.

As part of the international promotion of Georgia’s viticulture and winemaking sector, a representative of the National Wine Agency of Georgia delivered a presentation titled “Georgia – The Cradle of Wine.”

Irma Mdinaradze, Professor and Chief Specialist of the Viticulture Cadastre Division, gave a lecture on Georgian indigenous grape varieties, modern approaches to the preservation and study of Georgia’s wild grapevine gene pool, and the practical implementation of the vineyard cadastre system.

“The introduction of the vineyard cadastre system ensures wine quality control and increases production competitiveness. The program has already attracted significant interest and could serve as an important model for China. Particular attention was given to Georgia’s role as the birthplace of vine and wine and the importance of sharing this experience internationally,” Irma Mdinaradze noted.

The event was attended by lecturers and doctoral students of China Agricultural University. Participants showed strong interest in Georgia’s vineyard cadastre program, which has been implemented by the National Wine Agency since 2014. Under this program, nearly 50,000 hectares of vineyards have been recorded, supporting strategic management of the sector.
