Georgia to host the World Congress of the International Organization of Vine and Wine in 2027
According to a decision made at the spring session of the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) in Dijon, France, Georgia will host the OIV World Congress in 2027.
Georgia officially submitted its application to become the host country of the OIV World Congress in 2027 in 2025.
The OIV spring session is being attended by Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency.
"OIV is the most important organization in the field of viticulture and winemaking. This decision will once again emphasize Georgia's role on the world map of wine culture, that Georgia is a very important viticulture and winemaking country, which will ultimately contribute to the popularization of Georgian wine and the establishment of its name in the global market," noted Levan Mekhuzla.
It is noteworthy that Georgia has already hosted international OIV events twice - the 33rd International Congress in 1962 , and the 8th General Assembly of the organization in 2010 .
The International Organization of Vine and Wine ( OIV ) is an international intergovernmental organization that unites 51 member countries , including Georgia . The organization's activities include developing recommendations in the field of viticulture and winemaking in member countries, improving wine production and grape processing practices, as well as creating and developing international standards.
