David Songulashvili Visits Wine and Spirits Production Facility in Gardabani Municipality
Georgia's Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, David Songulashvili, together with the State Representative in the Kvemo Kartli region, Ilia Jalaghania, visited the Marnaveli Winery in Gardabani Municipality to learn about the company's operations and production process.
"The main purpose of my visit to Kvemo Kartli is to see first-hand the results achieved through state support for agricultural enterprises. Facilities like this create jobs, strengthen local economies, and increase the export potential of Georgian products. During our regional visits, we meet with farmers, listen to their needs and challenges, and work to make government support even more effective. Strong rural communities and successful farmers are the foundation of a strong economy and a prosperous country," said David Songulashvili.
Marnaveli Winery is a beneficiary of the Rural Development Agency under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture. To expand its production capacity, the company has repeatedly benefited from the government's Preferential Agrocredit Programme.
The facility produces, bottles, and markets wine and alcoholic beverages, operating a fully integrated production cycle that includes grape reception, winemaking, the production of brandy spirit and wine brandy, and bottling.
The winery has an annual production capacity of 5 million bottles. Its products are sold on the domestic market and exported to countries including the United States, China, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and others. The company provides permanent employment to 120 local residents.
Since the launch of the Preferential Agrocredit Programme, commercial banks have issued more than GEL 300 million in agricultural loans nationwide for the establishment and expansion of wine and alcoholic beverage enterprises, while the Rural Development Agency has provided more than GEL 74 million in co-financing.
In the Kvemo Kartli region alone, more than GEL 9 million in preferential agricultural loans have been issued under the programme, with the Agency contributing more than GEL 3 million in co-financing.
