IndiGo Launches Direct Mumbai–Tbilisi Flights, Expanding India–Georgia Air Connectivity
Starting August 2, IndiGo, one of Asia’s largest low-cost airlines, will launch three weekly direct flights from Mumbai to Tbilisi, making Mumbai the second Indian city after Delhi to be connected to Georgia by direct air service.
With this addition, the total number of weekly direct flights between India and Georgia will increase to ten. Until now, IndiGo has operated daily flights on the Delhi–Tbilisi–Delhi route.
According to Tamar Ioseliani, Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of the Georgian Airports Association, the introduction of direct flights to Mumbai will significantly boost tourism, business, and cultural ties between the two countries.
“From August 2, India’s largest low-cost airline IndiGo will launch direct, regular flights from Mumbai to Tbilisi, three times a week. After Delhi, this is the second direct air connection with India. Mumbai is India’s major economic and cultural hub, and the launch of this route will clearly enhance bilateral tourism, business, and cultural relations. The decision underscores India’s growing economic and tourism interest in Georgia,” said Ioseliani.
According to data from January–June 2025, 56,241 passengers traveled from India to Georgia via direct flights — marking a 123% year-on-year increase.
IndiGo, expected to carry 112 million passengers in 2024, is among Asia’s leading low-cost carriers. The airline operates an average of 1,900 flights per day to over 600 destinations worldwide, with a fleet of approximately 400 aircraft.
