Investor Confidence in Georgia Rises, Says JPMorgan Economist

JP Morgan Economist: Strong Investor Interest in Georgia Driven by Dynamic Growth and Currency Stability "Investor attention towards Georgia is high because the Georgian economy is developing dynamically, the national currency is stable, and the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) has accumulated significant reserves," stated Khamza Sharifzoda, Economist for the South Caucasus and Central Asia at the international investment company JP Morgan, following a meeting with the Governor of the NBG, Natia Turnava, and the Minister of Finance of Georgia, Lasha Khutsishvili.

During the meeting, Natia Turnava and Lasha Khutsishvili briefed international investors on Georgia’s macroeconomic outlook, as well as its monetary and fiscal policies and overall investment climate. They also highlighted the resilience of the country’s banking and financial sector. It was noted that the Georgian banking sector is well-capitalized and maintains strong liquidity positions. Discussions also covered the development of the domestic corporate securities market and related investment opportunities. According to the JPMorgan economist, the meeting with the NBG Governor and the Minister of Finance was highly productive.

“There is strong investor interest in Georgia, as the economy continues to perform well, the currency remains stable, and the central bank has built substantial reserves. As a result, investors are looking at opportunities in both the domestic market and Eurobonds,” he noted. He also emphasized that inflation in Georgia remains relatively low.

“The NBG has successfully maintained inflation within its target range. Fiscal policy is also being implemented prudently, supporting overall price stability. As a result, the discussions were highly productive, covering key issues such as prospects, forecasts, and risks,” said Khamza Sharifzoda. The delegation of US and UK investors is visiting Georgia at the invitation of the National Bank of Georgia and is co-organized by JPMorgan. It includes leading international investment and financial institutions such as Morgan Stanley Investment Management, Aberdeen, MetLife, and others.
