Songulashvili: “Our Goal Is to Strengthen Laboratory Capabilities and Introduce Innovative Research Methods”
Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture David Songulashvili visited the Akhaltsikhe laboratory of the State Laboratory of Agriculture to inspect its modern infrastructure and meet with staff.
The laboratory’s director, Irakli Guledani, introduced the minister to the facility’s ongoing work in diagnosing diseases caused by particularly dangerous animal pathogens, as well as research related to food and drinking water safety.
“Our goal is to strengthen laboratory capabilities, introduce innovative research methods, and further increase the quality of service,” said Minister Songulashvili. “This will contribute to the development of safe and high-quality agricultural production both regionally and nationwide.”
During his visit, the Minister emphasized the importance of timely and accurate diagnostics as a critical factor in ensuring food safety and healthy production. Specialists noted that the laboratory’s diagnostic capabilities continue to grow, allowing the Samtskhe-Javakheti region’s population to more effectively test for animal diseases and analyze food products.
This year, the Akhaltsikhe laboratory plans to expand its research scope by introducing new diagnostic methods for both animal health and food safety testing.
