Solomon Pavliashvili Participates in International Conference on Sustainable Solid Waste Management in Japan

Solomon Pavliashvili, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, participated in an international intergovernmental meeting in Japan dedicated to sustainable solid waste management for the advancement of the circular economy. The event was organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The meeting focused on modern waste management models and practical approaches that could be implemented with the support and cooperation of the Asian Development Bank and the Government of Japan.

During the conference, Deputy Minister Pavliashvili presented the current state of waste management in Georgia, outlining the country's ongoing reforms, achievements, and key challenges in the sector.

The event brought together government officials and policymakers from developing member countries of the Asian Development Bank, responsible for shaping national waste management policies. Participants discussed the implementation of circular economy principles, expanding recycling capacity, and attracting investment to support sustainable waste management systems.

The participants also expressed their readiness to cooperate on developing and implementing projects aimed at strengthening Georgia's waste recycling infrastructure and improving the country's capacity for sustainable waste management.

As part of the programme, the Georgian delegation visited several waste treatment and recycling facilities in Japan, where they explored advanced technologies and management practices that support efficient waste management and the reuse of valuable resources.
