Minister Davit Songulashvili Visits Samtskhe-Javakheti to Review Agricultural and Environmental Projects

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Davit Songulashvili, is currently visiting the Samtskhe-Javakheti region as part of a working trip aimed at inspecting ongoing projects and meeting with key local stakeholders. The visit includes engagements with local entrepreneurs and employees of the Ministry’s regional units.

In Borjomi, the Minister is observing the progress of renovation works at the regional office of the National Food Agency and is also visiting the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park Visitor Center operated by the Agency for Protected Areas. These visits aim to strengthen regional infrastructure for environmental governance and tourism services.

Further into the visit, Minister Songulashvili will travel to the village of Kldisubani in Akhaltsikhe Municipality to observe production activities at two enterprises: Meskheti Poultry Farm LLC and Geo Flowers LLC, a fruit and medicinal plant processing facility. Both businesses are beneficiaries of state support through the Rural Development Agency, and the visit provides an opportunity to assess the impact of government programs on rural economic development.

The Minister will continue his tour in Akhaltsikhe, where he will inspect the Akhaltsikhe Zonal Diagnostic Laboratory under the State Laboratory of Agriculture and the local office of the National Food Agency. These site visits are focused on reviewing operational performance and addressing potential needs for additional support or upgrades.

As part of his agenda, the Minister will meet with the staff of the rehabilitated Samtskhe-Javakheti Forest Service under the National Forestry Agency and review the ongoing renovation of the building housing the Samtskhe-Javakheti Regional Division of the Environmental Supervision Department. These developments aim to improve regional capacity in forestry management and environmental supervision.

To conclude the visit, Davit Songulashvili will tour the cheese production facility of Tsipora-Samtskhe LLC and hold a working meeting with local cheese producers to learn more about their challenges and explore opportunities for strengthening the sector.

The Minister is accompanied on the visit by the State Representative of Samtskhe-Javakheti, Zaal Gelashvili.
