David Songulashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, met with members of a Chinese business delegation, including representatives of Liquan Wine, one of China’s largest wine distribution companies.
The delegation was led by Sandro Beridze (also known as Isiao Dzuni), a Georgian businessman residing in China, who facilitated the visit with the aim of strengthening commercial ties in the wine sector.
Minister Songulashvili thanked the delegation for their growing interest in Georgian wine and emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting the development of the winemaking and viticulture industry.
“Supporting and developing the wine sector is one of the top priorities of the Georgian government. Wine is an essential part of Georgian identity, and the interest shown in our wine by international partners is of particular importance. We are fully ready to provide support,” said Minister Songulashvili.
During the meeting, Sandro Beridze highlighted that Liquan Wine is among the largest importers of European wines into the Chinese market. He noted that Georgian wine is gaining popularity in China, prompting the company’s interest in expanding its portfolio to include more Georgian labels.
Liquan Wine is a highly respected company with over 600 employees, including 128 certified tasters, and an annual sales volume of more than 12 million bottles.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, was also attended by Deputy Minister Lasha Dolidze, Chairman of the National Wine Agency Levan Mekhuzla, and heads of relevant departments within the Ministry.
