Head of the National Environmental Agency Elene Gubianuri Presents Annual Report to Committee Members

At the meeting of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, the Head of the National Environmental Agency, Elene Gubianuri, presented the Agency’s 2025 annual report and future plans to committee members.

The Agency Head spoke about the structural changes implemented this year and the work carried out in line with the institution’s core functions. Elene Gubianuri emphasized the reform of the Environmental Assessment Code, which ensures, on the one hand, the protection of high environmental standards and, on the other hand, the smooth implementation of all activities essential for development and economic progress.

It was noted that the Agency is currently undergoing active technological modernization, including the introduction of modern information and communication technologies. This will improve the accuracy of results and support the advancement of the early warning system. Active work is also underway to make coordination among relevant agencies more flexible and to enhance the effectiveness of the early warning system to ensure public safety.

Elene Gubianuri also spoke about progress in the Agency’s sectoral areas—including hydrometeorology, geology, environmental pollution monitoring, and Black Sea biodiversity research—as well as planned infrastructure projects, geodynamic processes, and ongoing challenges.

The meeting was attended by Members of Parliament and employees of the National Environmental Agency.
