On behalf of Georgia, the declaration was signed by Karlo Amirgulashvili, Head of the Forest Policy Department at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, alongside representatives of other European member states.
The declaration aims to strengthen sustainable forest management at both the national and international levels by promoting the implementation of key principles and best practices. It places particular emphasis on climate change adaptation, the diversification of forest resources, the mobilization of financial resources, support for forestry education and the promotion of the forestry sector, raising public awareness, and enhancing communication with stakeholders.
"Participation in the Ministerial Conference is important for Georgia as a signatory to the FOREST EUROPE process. It provides an opportunity to increase the country's international visibility, showcase the ongoing forestry sector reforms, and exchange best practices in sustainable forest management. Together with our international partners, Georgia will continue working actively to implement European standards in environmental protection and the forestry sector," said Karlo Amirgulashvili.
The 10th FOREST EUROPE Ministerial Conference was held under the theme "Sustainable Forests for Sustainable Societies."
