Georgia Mobilizes Extensive Resources in Disaster Response Efforts

On this somber day of mourning, Georgia commemorates the lives lost in the recent natural disasters. The nation's grief is profound, especially for the families of the deceased.

"These tragic moments weigh heavily on each of us, and our hearts go out to the bereaved families. We remain hopeful that the ongoing search operations will locate those still missing. We are doing everything in our power to ensure this," expressed Irakli Beraia, Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee of the Parliament, during an appearance on "Imedi".

Beraia emphasized the relentless efforts of the headquarters overseeing the rescue operations, which operates around the clock. He detailed the immediate decision-making process that adapts to the evolving needs on the ground.

Highlighting the scope of the operations, Beraia shared that nearly a thousand individuals, encompassing rescuers, military personnel, and rangers, are actively engaged in the affected areas, aided by specialized equipment. "The command center operates non-stop, with representatives from all relevant agencies, the central government, regional administrations, and local authorities. This ensures synchronized, coordinated efforts. Real-time updates from the disaster zone guide our actions, enabling quick, effective decisions. Alongside search operations, cleanup activities are also in full swing. Medical teams are on standby, and we've deployed cynologists and drones equipped with thermal imaging capabilities," Beraia elaborated.
