"Georgia and Hungary Are Taking Concrete Steps to Turn Bilateral Cooperation into Tangible Results" – Davit Songulashvili

"Georgia and Hungary share strong historical, cultural, and political ties. In recent years, our cooperation has been actively developing at all levels, including in the areas of agriculture and environmental protection," – stated Davit Songulashvili, Georgia’s Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, during his remarks at the second session of the Georgia-Hungary Intergovernmental Commission in Budapest.

He noted that in April 2025, the session of the Georgia-Hungary Intergovernmental Economic Commission, along with a business forum and sectoral working group meetings, was successfully held.

"These developments are clear proof that we are taking concrete steps to turn our relationship into tangible outcomes," Songulashvili emphasized. He also expressed his gratitude to members of the Hungarian government for their active and effective cooperation, particularly in supporting Georgia’s alignment with EU legislation.

"We welcome Hungary’s readiness to appoint a sectoral expert who will support the ministry in meeting the EU integration requirements in agriculture and rural development. This includes such important areas as agricultural product quality standards," said the minister.

Songulashvili also stressed the importance of knowledge and experience exchange, including through academic and student exchange programs.

"We look forward to concrete steps being taken to give Georgian students the opportunity to study in Hungarian educational institutions in fields related to agriculture and environmental protection. I am confident that our cooperation will continue to deepen, and that Georgia and Hungary will unlock new opportunities in both agriculture and environmental protection," – concluded Minister Davit Songulashvili.
