“Developing Local Production Helps Strengthen the Regions and Promote Georgian Products”

Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Davit Songulashvili paid a working visit to the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, where he reviewed the activities of state-supported agricultural enterprises and ongoing work in a protected area.

During the visit, Songulashvili learned about the operations of a poultry farm, a greenhouse producing annual crops, and enterprises engaged in organic strawberry cultivation, snail farming and dairy processing. He also inspected the tourism and recreational infrastructure at Tbilisi National Park and met with local farmers and entrepreneurs.

“Visits to the regions are particularly important, as they allow us to meet various producers on site and learn about their activities, challenges and opportunities for development. Strengthening local production provides a solid foundation for the economic development of municipalities and regions, while helping to improve the quality of Georgian products and increase their visibility.

“In addition to visiting the enterprises, we had an opportunity to inspect infrastructure projects implemented in protected areas. One of our key priorities is to develop appropriate infrastructure in these areas to ensure that visitors receive high-quality services. This, in turn, will raise awareness of Georgia’s unique natural environment and introduce the country’s natural heritage to both domestic and international visitors,” Davit Songulashvili said.
