Davit Songulashvili Opens New Building of National Food Agency in Natakhtari
Minister of Environment and Agriculture, Davit Songulashvili, inaugurated a new building of the National Food Agency’s regional department for Mtskheta-Mtianeti in Natakhtari, and met with its staff.
The Minister emphasized the importance of strengthening the institutional capacity of the Agency:
“From today onward, the National Food Agency will have its own office in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, where all conditions are created so that staff have adequate working conditions, and the region’s population can receive high-quality services and benefit from state programs.”
The National Food Agency conducts continuous state control of food safety in all municipalities. Special attention is given to inspections of public catering facilities, school and kindergarten kitchens, slaughterhouses, and meat retail outlets. In support of livestock development, the daily veterinary activities carried out by the Agency’s veterinarians are also essential — including free vaccinations against rabies, anthrax, brucellosis, and other diseases. Active measures are also in place against plant pests.
