Davit Songulashvili Meets Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund During Working Visit to France
As part of his working visit to Nice, France, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Davit Songulashvili, met with the Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), Mafalda Duarte.
The parties discussed ongoing and planned projects aimed at mitigating the negative impacts of climate change in Georgia.
“Georgia’s partnership with the Green Climate Fund began in 2016. Since then, we have implemented several joint projects across various areas. The GCF has financed two national projects in Georgia to carry out climate change mitigation and adaptation measures. We are also involved in the Fund’s regional projects. We hope that our productive cooperation with the Green Climate Fund will continue,” said Davit Songulashvili.
Mafalda Duarte positively assessed Georgia’s progress in addressing climate-related issues and expressed readiness to further strengthen the GCF’s support for the country, particularly in the areas of climate-smart agriculture and sustainable water resource management.
The meeting with the Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund took place within the framework of the high-level conference organized by the United Nations, during which Davit Songulashvili also held bilateral meetings with colleagues from various countries.
