David Songulashvili: Within the Framework of the Return Visit to Israel, We Continue Discussions on Areas of Cooperation Between the Two Countries

David Songulashvili, Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, is on a working visit to the State of Israel.

“The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Avi Dichter, together with his team, recently visited Georgia. Once again, we reaffirmed the strong partnership between our countries, as well as our shared desire and capacity to deepen cooperation. Israel is a global leader in agricultural innovation, technology, and research. Today, we signed a Declaration of Intent, which provides an excellent foundation for new and ambitious joint initiatives.

Cooperation under this declaration is multifaceted and includes, among other areas, the expansion of trade in agricultural products, strengthening cooperation in food policy and food safety, the introduction of modern irrigation systems, deeper collaboration between scientific and research institutions, and educational programs. According to the signed document, the establishment of a working group is planned. This working group will identify priorities that will guide agricultural cooperation between the two countries,” David Songulashvili stated.

The Minister also assessed his visit to Israel’s national agricultural research institute, the Volcani Center, noting that Georgia and the Center share a decade-long history of productive cooperation.

“During the meeting at the Volcani Center, we identified future areas of cooperation. Educational programs and joint research, of course, remain a priority. Student exchange programs are particularly noteworthy, as they will oth promote knowledge sharing and further strengthen the friendship between our countries. At the same time, cooperation is important in the areas of water management, testing climate-resilient crops in the context of climate change, and introducing modern technologies to increase productivity,” said the Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia.
