As part of his working visit to the State of Israel, David Songulashvili, Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, met with David Bitan, Head of the Georgia–Israel Friendship Group and Chair of the Economic Committee of the Knesset.
The Minister thanked David Bitan for his many years of active contribution to strengthening Georgia–Israel relations and emphasized the importance of this cooperation for both countries.
During the meeting, the parties focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of agriculture and innovation. Discussions also addressed the creation of favorable trade conditions and opportunities to increase exports of agri-food products from Georgia.
As David Songulashvili noted, Israel’s experience and innovations offer significant opportunities for the development of Georgia’s agrotechnology sector and high value-added crops.
The Minister underscored the importance of support from the Knesset in strengthening institutional cooperation between the ministries and invited David Bitan to visit Georgia. According to him, a return visit would help advance Georgia–Israel sectoral partnership to a new stage.
The meeting was attended, alongside David Songulashvili, by Lasha Dolidze, Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia; Zaza Kandelaki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the State of Israel; and Meni Benishi, Honorary Consul of Georgia.
