Adequate Infrastructure Is Key for Effective State Environmental Control — Davit Songulashvili
Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, Davit Songulashvili, visited the Mtskheta-Mtianeti regional office of the Environmental Supervision Department to review ongoing renovation works.
Minister Songulashvili emphasized that:
“Renovation works at the Mtskheta-Mtianeti regional office of the Environmental Supervision Department will be completed by the end of this year. Across the country, one of the main preconditions for effective environmental control is having the proper infrastructure and suitable working conditions.”
During the visit, the Minister met with the regional office staff, who briefed him on their operations and current challenges. It was noted that in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, environmental violations are most often linked to poaching and breaches of the waste management code. To address these issues, the local office conducts 24-hour monitoring and control measures.
The Mtskheta-Mtianeti office became an independent territorial unit of the Environmental Supervision Department two years ago. Until 2023, it had been merged with the Inner Kartli office under the Eastern Regional Division.
