A Working Meeting Held in Gori with Fish-Farming Producers

A working meeting was held in Gori with fish-farming producers, attended by Lasha Avaliani, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, and Irakli Guledani, Director of the State Agricultural Laboratory.

All necessary diagnostic tests for fish diseases have already been introduced within the network of the State Agricultural Laboratory, including central, regional, and zonal diagnostic laboratories. The aim of the meeting with farmers was to raise awareness about the importance of fish disease diagnostics and to provide more information about available testing services.

Participants discussed existing challenges in the sector, future plans, and the need for cooperation to prevent diseases and eliminate health risks related to fish products.

Deputy Minister Lasha Avaliani highlighted the shortage of veterinarians, including specialists in fish diseases (ichthyopathologists), as a major challenge. Promoting these in-demand professions and increasing youth interest is one of the Ministry's priorities.

The meeting was attended by Mikheil Favlenishvili, First Deputy State Representative of Shida Kartli, Konstantine Buzaladze, Mayor of Gori Municipality, as well as representatives of the Rural Development Agency, the National Food Agency, and the State Agricultural Laboratory.
