Lasha Dolidze Inspects Field Work on Pasture and Windbreak Strip Inventory in Ninotsminda Municipality

Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Lasha Dolidze received detailed information on the ongoing inventory work of pastures and windbreak strips from Giorgi Misheladze, Head of the National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring.

Together with the Agency Head, the Deputy Minister visited various locations to observe the field work carried out, review initial results, and familiarize himself with the inventory methodology and its practical applications. Special attention was given to the challenges accompanying the ongoing process.

One of the major problems remains improper land use: across the municipality, incidents of overgrazing and burning of plant residues are frequent. These irresponsible practices critically weaken soil protection against wind and water erosion, leading to intensified degradation.

The Mayor of Ninotsminda Municipality, Anivard Mosoyan, stated that the municipality will strengthen measures to eliminate land-use violations.

The pasture inventory is being carried out within the framework of the program “Modernization and Market Access for the Dairy Sector: Adaptation Component (DiMMAdapt)”.

Deputy Minister Lasha Dolidze also received information on the challenges related to the inventory of windbreak (shelterbelt) strips, which require timely intervention to correct inconsistencies and ensure the implementation of regulations defined by the Law on Windbreak Strips.

The rational management of pastures and windbreak strips is of vital importance for the country’s ecological security and sustainable agricultural development. Accurate accounting of existing resources is an essential tool for achieving this goal.
