Georgian Technical University's Building 4 to be Fully Rehabilitated
Georgian Technical University, which arose from our country's rich educational traditions, is the oldest engineering school and one of the earliest educational institutions not only in the South Caucasus, but also in the Near East, according to Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, who spoke at the university's 100th anniversary celebration today.
According to the Head of Government, brand-new prospects for the university are offered by Georgia's association with Horizon Europe, the EU's new framework program for research and innovation, which was signed recently in Brussels.
Thanks to this program, the Prime Minister emphasized, Georgia's representatives will enjoy the same programs, terms, and rights as members of the EU member states' scientific and innovation communities.
"With enormous support from the Ministry of Education and Science, Horizon Europe's office was established at Technical University today, further to enhance Georgian scientists' abilities to tap into full scientific research potential. They will be able to participate in under competitions under this 95-billion-euro research and innovation program.
Similar projects serve the purpose of transforming Georgia into an integral part of Europe's educational space," Irakli Garibashvili stated.
On the Government's decision, to celebrate Georgian Technical University's 100th anniversary, full rehabilitation work will commence this year at the school's Building 4.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the Government prioritizes linking up higher and vocational educational levels-with cooperation between the Ministry and Technical University, Niko Nikoladze Agricultural College will open soon.
"Our key priority is to link up higher and vocational educational levels. The development of vocational education at the university will foster the implementation of the principle of continuous education. Most importantly, it what our country and economy need most at his point in development, the reason why it is commendable that Niko Nikoladze Agricultural College will open soon through cooperation between the Ministry and Technical University.
As you know, our Government has already launched the implementation of Georgia's 10-year development plan. It is the first instance since regaining independence that we focus on a long-term, sustainable, inclusive process of development designed to ensure our citizens' prosperity. I believe, and we expect, that Technical University will play a leading role in this process as well.
Of course, all these achievements and successes are underpinned by your hard work-scientists, pedagogues, and students, and you are also the main guarantors of success in the future. On the Government's decision, to celebrate Georgian Technical University's 100th anniversary, full rehabilitation work will commence this year at the school's Building 4.

As part of Georgian Technical University's anniversary celebration, a message to the future was drawn up to be placed in a time capsule and buried in the garden square of the university's administrative building. The capsule will be unearthed on the 150th anniversary of Georgian Technical University.
To mark the educational institution's 100th anniversary, Georgian Technical University, on the decision of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All-Georgia, was awarded the Golden Order of Saint George, the highest honor awarded by the Georgian Orthodox Christian Church, for a special contribution to the development of education and science and to the country's revival.
As part of the event, Horizon Europe's office at Georgian Technical University was ceremonially inaugurated, to help the university's academic personnel participate in this 95-billion-euro European program.
Works by the university's students and employees, archival materials, and modeled sketches for a future recreation area adjacent to Georgian Technical University were displayed. A presentation was held to showcase Georgian Technical University's future Hydrotechnical and Hydraulics Scientific Research Laboratory under construction in Dighomi.
A variety of events will be held throughout the year to celebrate Georgian Technical University's 100th anniversary.
