Georgian Minister of Environment and Agriculture Davit Songulashvili, together with a Georgian government delegation, is on an official visit to the People’s Republic of China.
The delegation is headed by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
During the visit, two memorandums were signed:
-
“On Cooperation in the Field of Environmental Protection between the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China”
-
“On Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture between the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the People’s Republic of China”
These memorandums will further strengthen cooperation between Georgia and the People’s Republic of China in the areas of agriculture and environmental protection.
“The meeting between the prime ministers of the two countries was particularly important during the visit. This meeting enabled the signing of memorandums covering both environmental and agricultural cooperation,” said Davit Songulashvili.
According to the Minister, cooperation in the environmental field will expand in areas such as waste management, biodiversity protection, ecotourism, protected areas, and sharing management practices.
“With regard to the agricultural sector, I would like to emphasize the importance of sharing experience, which will allow us to further increase the productivity of agricultural production,” noted the Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia.
Davit Songulashvili also highlighted the importance of an agreement signed during the visit that enables the export of Georgian chicken meat to China. Opening access to China’s large market for yet another Georgian product will strengthen the agricultural sector and positively contribute to the country’s economic growth.
