David Songulashvili: Georgia’s Ongoing Partnership with FAO Drives Progress in Agri-Food
The 44th Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), held in Rome, focused on the current state of global agri-food systems and the prospects for enhanced international cooperation.
The conference brought together high-level representatives from all 194 FAO member states, including around 50 ministers.
“I am pleased that we participated in such a significant forum, where global visions and strategic directions for the development of agri-food systems were discussed. Georgia, as a committed partner, is ready to continue active cooperation with FAO and its member states,” said David Songulashvili, Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia.
The Minister emphasized the long-standing and successful partnership between Georgia and FAO, which has resulted in the implementation of numerous impactful projects. Through joint efforts, substantial progress has been made in key areas such as food security, climate-smart agriculture, and inclusive development.
“In transforming agri-food systems, our priorities are knowledge-based development, the adoption of modern technologies, and the promotion of best international practices,” Songulashvili noted.
